The Book of Psalms is a collection of poetry that have been studied, read, prayed, and sung for thousands of years. In his book The Case for the Psalms, NT Wright writes that praying the Psalms is a way of communing with God. It is through these poems that one begins to know God more intimately, and receive direction in life. As a Christian, maintaining a daily spiritual practice has been important to me. At times that looks like daily devotions, centering prayer, and mindful walks in creation. Writing has also been an important thread throughout all of my spiritual practices, and I have been keeping a journal of Psalms. Walk alongside of me as I rejoice, lament, rage, weep, praise, and learn more about myself and God’s character.
